Stewardship Series 2026 - Part 4 - "Taking Care of Your Temple!"

Jan 25, 2026    Pastor Arthur J. James

This week's message challenges us to recognize that stewardship extends far beyond our finances—it encompasses the very bodies we inhabit. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we're reminded of a profound truth: our bodies are not our own. They are temples of the Holy Spirit, purchased at the highest price through Christ's sacrifice. This isn't just theological language; it's a call to radical responsibility. We're invited to consider three compelling reasons to care for our physical temples. First, because God explicitly commands it—our bodies are sacred spaces where His Spirit dwells. Second, because we only get one body for this earthly journey, and no one else can maintain it for us. Third, because others depend on us—our families, our communities, our ministries all need us to be physically capable of fulfilling our calling. The message beautifully connects physical health with spiritual vitality, showing how what we put in our bodies, what we put on our bodies, and what we do with our bodies all matter to God. This isn't about legalism or vanity; it's about honoring the One who created us and understanding that true worship involves presenting our bodies as living sacrifices. When we neglect our physical health, we potentially limit our spiritual effectiveness and cut short the time we have to serve others and glorify God.
