Praying Through the Storm

Life has a way of sending storms our way when we least expect them, and this message meets us right in the middle of that reality. Drawing from Matthew 8:23-27, where Jesus and his disciples find themselves in a sudden and violent storm on the lake, we are invited to examine what it truly means to trust God when the waters rise around us. The central truth is both simple and profound: storms are not a respecter of seasons, reasons, or people. They do not wait for a convenient time, they do not require us to have done something wrong, and they do not spare anyone based on status or faith. What sets believers apart is not the absence of storms but the presence of Jesus in the boat with us. The image of Jesus sleeping through the storm is not one of indifference but of perfect peace, a peace that he invites us to share. We are challenged to move beyond complaining through our storms and crying through our storms, and instead commit to praying through them. When we do, we discover that prayer does not always remove the storm immediately, but it repositions our hearts so that we can walk in peace while we wait for the storm to pass.
